Most of you probably got referred here from visiting Retrovision.TV.  Geolocation and device locations are used to tell whether to redirect you.  Whether it is because you are using a device that gets restricted by content providers or whether it’s because you are not in the United States, this is the web site you want to use.

I’ve added some device support for various popular devices and I thought I should tell you how it’s supposed to work….  And ask you if it works ok with your device.  I’ll also point out some known bugs.

If you visit Retrovision.TV, you will be redirected to TV VOID if:

You are not in the US.

You are using a device that gets blocked or is not functional with Retrovision

You will get the app if you are using a device that doesn’t play well with TVVOID or RETROVISION.

Ipad

As of today, your ipad will get redirected here.  This won’t do you much good with a regular browser, but you can see what it is. It was almost a tossup between showing you the TV VOID site and using this app.  An ipad is pretty capable of viewing full size webs, but not all the pages work right with an ipad.   I decided to do what works 100% and send ipads to the mobile app.  You could argue with me.   Drop the web page you get on your desktop and it will become an app.

Android

Android phones, tablets and Kindle Fire (pass on buying one of these) will be redirected to the above app.  An app is in the works, but for now you will be directed to the web page which will function with the app above.  Until I get an app put together, this will be in the normal browser window.

Iphones

As has been the case for a few months, iphones will be directed to the app.

Roku

You can subscribe to the Roku channel by clicking here.  If it doesn’t show up in your channel lineup, look in the Channel Store.  Sometimes it can take several hours for a loaded channel to show up in your selections, but it always shows up fairly immediately in the store.

Boxee and anything that will take an RSS video feed.

Install the RSS reader app from the Boxee store (almost anything has an RSS app) and use this RSS feed .  Consult the podcast post here for more RSS feeds that might be useful.  These should also work with about anything that can read a podcast (vodcast) including Apple devices.  Have an Apple TV?  I’d like to know if this works through itunes.  This should work with about anything that can display a video podcast.

Google TV

With the Honeycomb update, Google TV  works with the native web.   Google TV users get redirected to TV VOID because a lot of content (Hulu etc.) is blocked to users of Google TV.  Google TV was terrible before the recent update.  The recent Honeycomb update did a lot of good.  It’s only about a year too late.

Get playable movies via email.

If you look in the sidebar, you’ll see a link to sign up by email.  This will put whole MP4 movies in your email box on a fairly regular basis.  You can download them and play them with anything that plays MP4 video.  That’s most devices that play video.
